An Ohio Mail Carrier Has Admitted To Stealing $700,000 Worth Of Marijuana and Meth From Packages and Reselling It On The Streets

Columbus, Ohio – A former United States Postal Carrier has pleaded guilty to stealing mail that contained narcotics and selling them in his neighborhood.

Thirty-two-year-old Ricky Lee Harris Germany pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and a detectable amount of marijuana.

I’ve always been a huge proponent of people taking jobs with great benefits. I know everyone gets so enamored with salary these days, but I would rather have a great benefits package full of sick days, vacation days, good insurance, and high retirement contribution matches. And anything extra from that is just the cherry on top. For instance, people that work at a restaurant may get a free meal after their shift. Teachers get the summers off. And apparently, mail carriers get a pretty good deal on wholesale drugs.

According to a complainant, Germany stole more than 100 pounds of marijuana over the course of six months.

100 pounds!! This wasn’t just a little ma and pa shop operation. This was a full on business strategy. And a good one! Lemme do the math real quick. In Columbus, Ohio (where I reside), I HEARD you can sell a ounce of weed for about $220. 220 x 16 x 200…..carry the one…..that’s $704,000!!!!

I want to be upset because this guy was going through packages in MY CITY, but I can’t do anything other than tip my hat to him. I won’t see $700,000 cash in my entire life. He made it in six months doing his side job. And everyone knows that criminal on criminal crime is fair game, because what are they going to do, tell on you?

“I’d like to report a crime: he stole the weed I was trying to sell”

But apparently, that is what someone did. There’s really not much information that says how he got caught, but how else do you get caught other than someone calling in and saying their shipment of meth never arrived? But however he finally did get exposed, and he had quite the business strategy.

The complainant said Germany would look for large parcels from California, Texas and Arizona and would check the packages on his lunch break to see if they contained drugs.

I’ll be honest, I did not know that drugs got sent in standard US Mail packages. Like, you’re telling me $700,000 worth of drugs passed through this specific Columbus post office in just six months? I’m in the wrong industry. Also — absolutely hilarious that he only checked packages from California, Texas, and Arizona. Smart business strategy.
