Wake Up With President George W. Bush's Perfect Strike Before Game 3 Of The 2001 World Series

There shouldn't really need to be any explanation for why I'm posting this today, but here ya go. President George Bush taking the mound before Game 3 in the 2001 World Series. The first World Series game in New York after the terrorist attacks that took place in New York, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC. Regardless of your political preference, what Bush did he was amazing. Snipers on the rooftops, rumors of more potential terrorist attacks swirling, and he goes out in front of the entire country, secret service members dressed up like umpires, steps on the mound with a bulletproof vest under his jacket and delivers an absolutely perfect strike. Couldn't have put it on a tee any better,  Angel Hernandez would have called it a ball though. There haven't been many moments recently where the entire country was able to come together and bond over something, but this was one of them. If you don't get the biggest goosebumps you've ever had when he steps on that mound, you aren't human. If that pitch wasn't a gigantic "fuck you" to Osama Bin Laden and the terrorists, I don't know what was. Truly an amazing moment in a time where everyone needed it.
Every year Dave posts The Man In The Red Bandana. That is a must read. It puts so much in perspective. It's even more sad when you learn that Welles Crowther's father passed away earlier this year. Large will probably also re-post his story from last year. Another insanely sad piece about that day 18 years ago. Read them, please. Never forget.
