Kyle Tucker Did NOT Win The USA Today Minor League Player of the Year
Ho hum. The minor league awards keep rolling in for the White Sox. Last year Dylan Cease was MiLB pitcher of the year. This year Robert gets league MVP. Is there anything a White Sox prospect can’t do? Ya know from actually start his clock when it’s clear he’s “ready”? Nope. There is NOT.
Oh, and take a look at this dink:
that’s the face of a dickhead who decidedly did NOT win the MiLB Player of the Year award. Couldn’t even go 32/36 like Robert did. What an asshole. In fact Tucker is only ranked number 12 on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects list, while Robert is ranked, you guessed it, 5th overall in baseball. Kyle Tucker STINKS.
But….. real talk. This is one of the very last times I’m ever going to have to write about White Sox farm depth. After Madrigal and Robert get called in early April of 2020, there’s not much behind them, only Andrew Vaughn who will start next year in Birmingham. Truthfully, we might be having the same conversation with Vaughn that we’ve had with Madrigal this year, but that’s a different blog for once the Sox are done. For now, let’s just admire these numbers…
…and this quote from Omar Vizquel:
“I remember seeing Ken Griffey Jr. in the beginning – we broke into the big leagues together in the same year – and Ken had that same kind of glow. He can do it all. He can beat you with a home run, with a stolen base, turn it into a different gear to make a play in the field. When you look at Robert, you see a player like that.”
and thank god there are more wins than losses on the near horizon. Because the bad baseball is wearing all of our patience REALLY thin. Shit like watching our all star 1B and team leader not tag up on this missile off Eloy’s bat last night:
I mean, what’s the point of running here? It’s mind boggling stupid to me. Idgaf that the xBA on this play was .740. I don’t even care if it’s 1.000, you have to tag up if you’re Abreu. This is just the kind of stupid shit that we’ve seen time and time again over the last 3 seasons.
But it’s almost over. And Luis Robert is one big reason why. And the only reason you know about him at all is because I’ve shoved him down the throats of casual baseball fans across the country all season. Dude’s a freak and I can’t wait to shove him down the throats of the casual baseball fan across the country once he’s on the south side slashing .240/.290 with a 33% K rate next April causing all White Sox fans to lose their collective minds.
It’s going to be biblical. You’ve been warned.
