Devin Booker Took A Clean Shot At Bill Simmons For Chirping Him About Not Playing For Team USA
OK first the important news. All reports are saying that Jayson Tatum is fine. That his ankle injury on his heroic game saving transition play from earlier today isn’t that bad and he’s already walking without a limp. Disaster averted thank the lord. So now that we know he’s OK, we can turn our attention to this A+ clean shot by Devin Booker. To me, this is the beauty of social media. Even if you don’t @ the athlete you’re talking shit to, it’s going to find it’s way to their timeline and anytime we get a clap back like this it’s great. While I don’t exactly love the subject matter, I can respect a clean shot when I see one and Booker certainly went for the kill.
I also think it’s stupid that people get worked up about how guys prefer to train for the upcoming NBA season. Devin Booker isn’t alone in terms of young studs who opted out of playing for Team USA. I don’t really subscribe to the theory that these guys are opting out in an effort to try and not get hurt because they can easily turn an ankle in any of these open runs. Who knows what Booker’s reasons are for not playing, but it’s not like he’s just sitting at home not preparing for the season. He’s out complaining about being double teamed in pick up games sure, but he’s still getting work in. If you’re someone who wants to play for Team USA, great. If not, who cares? You can still get better by not participating in the FIBA World Cup.
When you spend a lot of time on the internet, you see a quality Twitter murder from time to time. You factor in that nobody is more petty than your average NBA player combined with this being served up on a silver platter for Booker, and that’s how you get something like this. Just an A+ petty response that you can’t help but respect.
Now all Booker has to do is actually show some improvement on the defensive end and make the Suns somewhat competitive as a lottery team because let’s not get it confused. He’s already one of the best offensive players in the entire league
