Breaking: David Andrews is Hospitalized With Blood Clots in His Lungs
What I don’t know about blood clots in your lungs could fill a library. And it’s stating the obvious to say that they sound serious and threatening not only to a person’s health but their life. Which is all that really matters right now. David Andrews won’t even turn 27 until next July. And to have to be lying in a hospital right now awaiting test results and a long series of consults with doctors is a terrible break for anyone. Much less someone barely old enough to rent a car.
It’s way, WAY too early to talk about this from a football perspective. But just to pay a compliment to Andrews – a guy who went undrafted but nevertheless has made himself into an elite center who held his ground against some of the best pass rushes in the game last year, including stoning Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh in the Super Bowl – his loss would be felt. I repeat, now is not the time for worrying about football and blocking assignments. This is just meant as praise for a guy who has made being a center in the NFL his profession, worked hard and achieved incredible things in the early part of his career. It’s not a coincidence that since coming out of Georgia four seasons ago he’s been to three Super Bowls, won two and has never NOT been as far as the AFC championship game. It’s a testament to him and his talents.
Some time in the future it’ll be appropriate to talk about Dante Scarnecchia and what he can do going forward. Right now it’s all about David Andrews, his family and his doctors and what they can do to make him 100% healthy. Godspeed to all.
