CJ McCollum's Offensive Bag Is Deep As Hell

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we don’t talk enough about how legit CJ McCollum is on the offensive end. When you think about the POR backcourt Dame usually gets most of the love (and that’s deserving), and McCollum is usually just talked about as a shooter. Well in my opinion he’s so much more than that as a scorer. His isolation game is no fucking joke and even though I’m a sucker for summer workout videos, we saw this during the season as well. During the year he averaged 0.92 points per iso possession with 43% shooting which had him ranked in the 70th percentile. Pretty decent, but definitely an area where he can get even better. We saw a little bit of this against Klay Thompson this playoffs

and after watching that open run video you get why the Blazers just gave this dude a 3/100M extension. Now that he’s secured the bag, the next step is for CJ to finally make an All Star team. Pretty crazy a guy who’s averaged at least 20 points for 4 straight seasons shooting no worse than 44% and over 2.0 3PM a night in each season hasn’t broken through yet but that’s the reality. You could make the case that he’s one of if not the best players in the league to never have made an All Star team. Well if that video is any indication, next season could be that year.

We see a ton of these summer workout videos all summer, but I have to say this was one of the more impressive ones I’ve seen especially because there was some NBA talent on that floor. It may be a little extreme to say McCollum is underrated, but all signs clearly point to a breakout year on the horizon and in a uber competitive West, that has to make Blazers fans happy.
