Terry Rozier Had The Perfect Response To His Haters

As someone who lived and mostly died riding with Terry Rozier for the last four years, his entire free agency gave me mixed emotions. Sure it was frustrating how he never seemed to be able to figure out how to pass out of the pick and roll, and yeah you had to just accept that he was always going to shoot in the high 30s and his 0-10 in Game 7 two years ago was pretty bad, but there were also some good moments sprinkled into his Celtics tenure

At the same time, I wanted no part of Ainge overextending to keep Rozier, and his 3/56.7M deal with the Hornets is pretty much what that is. Here’s the thing though, even if you or I don’t think Terry Rozier is worth $19M a year, in reality you are worth what the market is willing to pay you. Also if the Hornets are serious about tanking and starting this rebuild off right, maybe bringing Terry in and letting him take 20-25 shots a night is the best way to secure that high lottery pick.

And even if you’re still a little mad at Terry for how he handled this past season and his role in the dogshit chemistry that was the 2018-19 Boston Celtics, you have to admit this is a great clap back at the haters. That is the look of a man that couldn’t give two shits what you think about his contract or if he’s overpaid and you know what you almost have to respect it. I think we all subscribe to the “snake it till you make it” mantra, so on that principle alone you can’t really hate on a guy who averaged 9.9 points last year and is a career 7.7 point scorer cashing in like Rozier did. That’s the dream isn’t it? Some guys have to grind and actually produce, maybe make an All Star team or be close to it in order to get this type of pay day. Terry just happened to hit the market at the right time and found one team dumb and desperate enough to cut that type of check. Shame on you if you thought that contract would now motivate Terry to do nothing but be in the gym and prove to everyone he’s worth that money.

We talk all the time about some of the best finesse’s in NBA history, guys like Chandler Parsons, Harrison Barnes, Joakim Noah, etc well I think we have to add Terry Rozier to that list. The man hasn’t really done anything in his NBA career so far and still secured a pretty big bag. You may not like it but don’t you for a second think Terry Rozier gives a shit. Just when I thought maybe I was out on Rozier that picture and caption suddenly has pulled me back in. I now can’t wait to see him take way too many shots while MJ realizes in real time that perhaps he made a gigantic mistake. Can’t say that would be the first time if you look at their roster. Woof.
