*You definitely heard the HBO static sound and that Heavenly song in your head just now*

Variety- “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with some beloved “Thrones” actors, have canceled their scheduled appearances at San Diego International Comic-Con.

Actors Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei of Naath), director Miguel Sapochnik, and dual writer-producers Benioff and Weiss are no longer attending, HBO revealed in a revised panel lineup on Wednesday. The premium cable network attributes their absences to production and schedule conflicts. HBO had no further comment.

Well this is the biggest disappointment for Game of Thrones fans since…I guess the finale if not the entire last season? I’m not one that loves to watch awkward confrontations. I have had to watch some of the showdowns in the Barstool radio studio the last month or so with my eyes half open despite being at home and I still skip the Scott’s Tots episode anytime it starts to play on Netflix or TBS.

But I would have cherished watching my first ever Comic Con panel if I knew Benioff and Weiss were about to get flayed alive on livestream because it would have been the closest thing to a satisfying way to wrap up Thrones. I may have even poured myself a goblet of red and got my Sassy Cersei on once heads started to roll.

Hell, if we are being honest, I would have actually given them credit and walking into their own Red Wedding after pretty much everybody on and off the internet turned on them for finishing Thrones with the breakneck pace of a Madden simulated season.

However, it appears that won’t be the case because of “scheduling conflicts”, whatever that means. I mean I’m sure neither Benioff nor Weiss’ Outlook calendars for tomorrow said “Get roasted by thousands of angry Comic Con nerds with boos and disparaging questions rivaling anything Drogon could spit”.

Agreeing to appear on the panel in the first place was a wild move. But agreeing to appear then cancelling the week of is a bad idea equal to anything that militaristic mental midget Jon Snow could ever come up with. Their publicists will probably come up with some excuse about having to figure out how they are working on Star Wars so they don’t fuck up that franchise as well. But we all know the reason they turned down a trip to San Diego after somehow being nominated for an Emmy for that series finale.
