Just Another Day in Boston: Hugh Jackman Handing Out Free Coffee to Everybody

SourceHollywood icon Hugh Jackman handed out free coffee to Bostonians at Faneuil Hall on Thursday afternoon.

7NEWS spotted the ‘X-Men’ star handing out free samples of his Laughing Man coffee.

Jackman also took time to sign autographs and take selfies with many fans who flocked to the coffee truck.

Jackman launched the fair trade coffee company in 2011 and established the Laughing Man Foundation.

A portion of the proceeds of all coffee sales is invested in programs that “clear the way to health, growth, and success for coffee farmers and their families.”

Most of the time I am loathe to do the “Celebrities are Just Like You & Me!!!” thing. And I try not to draw conclusions about what actors are like in real life because they’re … well, they’re actors. They pretend to be other people for a living. So if you can pretend to be say, Abe Lincoln or Stephen Hawking or even the guy who’s surprised to walk in on his stepdaughter and her girlfriend in a porn and do it convincingly, how hard is it to fool the public into thinking you’re a good guy? The same skills that went into playing a loving Dr. Huxtable telling Theo he’s got to do better in school came in really handy when it came time for Cosby to convince people he wasn’t drugging women and then masturbating on their sleeping bodies.

But with that said, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Hugh Jackman is a pretty solid cat. Yes, I get this is a stunt done to promote his coffee charity. But still, that is a pretty cool thing to do, meeting and greeting with your fans and giving something back. It’s hard to follow the fake internet flame war he’s got going with Ryan Reynolds – another really cool celebrity it seems – and this video they made for each other’s charities and think anything less:

Not to mention, if any of the women in that crowd are anything like the Irish Rose – and I’m guessing a LOT of them were – they were forming puddles at their feet waiting to meet the man. He might always be Wolverine to me and you, but to the ones who swoon over him every time “The Greatest Showman” or “Les Miserables” is on, he’s the song and dance man of their dreams who’s been married to the same woman for 23 years. Now he’s doing shows on Broadway and selling their favorite beverage to help poor people in coffee growing nations? He’s lucky they didn’t tear that food truck apart to get at him, take him home and kick their own sorry excuse for a husband (me) to the curb permanently.

There’s a very short list of famous people I’d switch lives with, Quantum Leap style. Hugh Jackman is definitely one of them.
