The Yankees Won Their 7th In A Row As Gary Blasted A Ball Into Outer Space

Houston Astros v New York Yankees

Yankees 4 Astros 1

Remember when Carrabis tried to make it seem like Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres
only hit against the Orioles? Me too!

What an idiot! What a stupid person! What a stupid narrative. That little shit probably thought he was so clever typing in his numbers machine what they do against the O’s. Little did he know he was trying to disparage the name of two super stars. Buffoon. He lives in this tiny bubble and doesn’t realize there are other good players in baseball besides people on the Red Sox. That’s your unbiased national baseball writer for ya!

Gary hit a ball 481 feet last night. You heard me. FOUR EIGHTY ONE.

It was his 23rd of the season, and it’s not even July yet. He’s putting together one of the best offensive seasons from the catcher position in baseball history. 23 bombs 52 RBIs and a .274/.340/.642 triple slash. Behind the plate he’s put to bed his passed balls issue and has actually graded out as an average defender, which is a giant step up from last season. Not only is he going to be the starting catcher at the All Star Game, but Gary would likely finish in the top 3 of the MVP ballot if voting was today.

Gleyber Torres blasted off his 18th homer of the season which extended the lead to three.

He’s on pace for 39 bombs this year. They told us he wouldn’t have any power in the big leagues, but the sky is the limit for this man and he’s ours forever. Anytime a GM thinks about bringing up his name in trade discussions I just picture Cashman looking like Leo in Wolf of Wall Street laughing right in the guy’s face.

Oh yeah, he can play a little defense too…

That play actually gave me an erection. The infield defense of DJ/Gio, Didi, and Gleyber is unfair and so much fun to watch.

I’ll tell ya what, man. When the Yankees actually do this pitching thing, they don’t lose. During this current seven game winning streak they’ve went with the “don’t give up runs” strategy and it’s really paying off. When you have the lineup they do, opponents are going to need to score 6+ runs to normally beat you. When pitchers do their jobs, it’s game over.

In the last turn of the rotation everyone has put in a solid outing. Now length may not be there, but as long as you can get to the 6th inning and hand it over to the pen there’s no issue. On Friday, James Paxton got the ball and did a lot of houdini work to get through his 5 frames without allowing more than a run. He walked two men to start the 2nd and served up a leadoff double in the 3rd. None of them came around to score. His only blemish was a two out double by Marisnick in the 4th. I can live with that kind of start from Paxton.

Quick side note: Michael Kay what are you doing pal? Just take the night off for Christ’s sake. That was brutal to listen to, but whenever O’Neill would chime in with a SEE YA I laughed out loud. I don’t know why they thought letting Kay do that game with his lost voice was a good idea.

So where do we stand? Well, that’s seven wins in a row. 9 of 12. A season high 21 games over .500. The second highest run differential in the American League, only behind the Twins. The Yankees are a combined 15-7 against the Rays, Red Sox, Astros, and Twins. But I thought we only beat bad teams? Yeah, life is good. The only bad thing that came out of last night was Cameron Maybin straining his calf. That just sucks. We campaigned so hard for the 4 man bench and to keep him alive, and now he’ll likely be down a month and could very well lose his place with this team. So fucking unlucky. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how that plays out, but that was so shitty.

Barstool at the Ball Park is tonight. Deal starts at 5:00, enter through Game 8. Do not go through any other gate, you will be waiting in line until 1st pitch if you choose that option. Tommy and I will be at Billy’s beforehand if you want to do a little pregame before the event. Going to be a long, beautiful day. Hopefully we get the first unveiling of the “Death” lineup. Tanaka on the bump. Let’s make it 8 straight shall we?
