Wake Up With Bill Buckner Chugging Around The Bases For An Inside The Park Homer

I thought it was only right that we wake up with Bill Buckner this morning after his death on Sunday at the age of 69. Crazy young still, very sad. For a guy who had the worst play of his career broadcast over and over and over and over and basically ruined his life, I thought it would be nice to show something other than him whiffing on the ground ball in Game 6. He was such a good hitter and you can see that here. He lines a ball to right field, the defender goes back towards the short fence in the corner, ball bangs off his glove, and the fielder falls into the stands. Ball is just sitting there waiting to be thrown in. Buckner is CHUGGING around the bases and scores without a throw. I think the fielder was hurt too? He did slam pretty hard, and the crowd was telling the trainers they needed to get over there.
He was a career .289 hitter with 2,715 hits and only 453 STRIKEOUTS in 2,517 games. That is absolutely insane. The guy just didn't strike out. I've seen the stat floating around that he never had a 3 strikeout game in his career. Guys don't blink twice if they do that today. His career high in a season for strikeouts was 39. That is a normal month for Bryce Harper now. An insanely talented hitter and baseball player who basically will always be the butt of jokes and remembered for his lowest point ever, sad. Plus he saved that baby on Curb.
RIP
