Chris Hogan And His Wife Donate 100 Tickets To Students For Penn State's Final Four Lacrosse Game On Saturday
Now this…this right here is a game changer.
Penn State won their first ever NCAA Lacrosse Tournament game just a couple of weeks ago. They smacked the everliving heck out of UMBC 25-10. They then followed that performance up with a 21-14 win over Loyola in the quarterfinals this past weekend. So now not only did they win their first NCAA tournament game in program history this year, but they also became the first team since 1990 to score 20+ goals in back-to-back tournament games, and they earned themselves a rematch against Yale in the Final Four on Saturday. Yale just so happens to be the only team that has beat Penn State so far this year.
Now the fact that the NCAA Lacrosse Championship Weekend is in Philly this year means that at least 75% of that stadium is going to be filled with Penn State fans on Saturday. But when you’ve also got a guy like Chris Hogan and his wife Ashley kicking in an extra 100 tickets for free? That’s how you turn this into a home game in the Final Four. That’s what having an NFL wide receiver in your alumni network can do for you. Yale doesn’t have that. Duke doesn’t have that. Virginia doesn’t have that.
Now to be fair, Chris Hogan isn’t the richest guy in this matchup on Saturday between Penn State and Yale. Because Yale lacrosse alum Joe Tsai of Alibaba is worth billions of dollars.
But I don’t see Joe Tsai donating 100 tickets to Yale students. So the advantage goes to Chris Hogan here. And you know what? I’m starting to think that maybe this was Chris Hogan’s plan from the very beginning.
He knew the day was going to come when Penn State’s program was going to put it all together and make it to the Final Four. So he wanted to be in a financial situation at the time when he could help build the home field advantage for the boys. So what does he go out there and do? He plays a year of college football at Monmouth and then makes the jump to the NFL where he could get paid that NFL money. A few years later and here we are. Chris and Ashley Hogan are donating 100 tickets to Penn State students and the scene at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday is going to be Happy Valley East.
Oh and by the way–I should probably mention that Chris Hogan used to play lacrosse for Penn State.
