The Celtics Being The Only Boston Team To Not Make Their Final Round Cuts Deep

2019 NBA Playoffs: Boston Celtics Vs Milwaukee Bucks At Fiserv Forum

I thought I was over it. I thought enough time had passed where I was ready to move on from the disappointment and embarrassment caused by the Boston Celtics, but here I sit mad as hell. With the Bruins taking care of business to reach the Stanley Cup Finals, you know living up to their expectations and doing their part in the attempt to complete the Boston Grand Slam, I can’t help but feel shame for how my Celtics let the city down. That pit in the bottom of my stomach that took days to get over is back and in a big way. The Bruins still have 4 more to go, and I couldn’t tell you a goddamn thing about their chances because I know absolutely nothing about the NH, I’ll leave that up to Marina. But what I do know is at least they made the final round and are still alive. They saw an opportunity and seized it, whereas the team I care about saw their opportunity and decided to piss all over it.

So while part of me is happy another Boston team is competing for a title, it mostly just rehashes what an utter disappointment the Celtics were. That the one thing I care most about in my life outside of my dogs is the laughing stock of the city. They’re the loser that couldn’t even get out of the second round while everyone else gets on duckboats. If the Bruins are fortunate enough to win and make it 3 titles in 4 sports it will be a truly historic achievement. You know what would have been cooler? 4 in 4 sports. Now obviously if this team couldn’t beat the Bucks they probably couldn’t beat GS but don’t let them off the hook so easily. They blew it. It’s almost as if the Bruins are the exact opposite of the team they share a building with. This team seems likable, their stars show up and produce in the big moments, they’re well coached, they’re tough. Everything we wanted the Celtics to be is what the Bruins are.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. They had the talent, they had the opportunity. In the end the Celts were one of the biggest disasters in Boston sports history and once the Bruins win the cup we’ll remember it forever. They were the ones that couldn’t get it done and I will never forgive them for it.
