ESPN Anchor Drops Huge Game of Thrones Spoilers During NBA Playoff Coverage 2 Hours Before It Aired On The West Coast
CB - Some of us experienced the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones in real time. Others might have decided to wait a bit later, whether they were spending Mother’s Day with family or are waiting to binge it all in one go. But if you were one of the people who chose to watch highlights of the riveting NBA playoffs Game 7 between the Toronto Raptors and the Philadelphia 76ers, well, sorry to say that you were out of luck.
ESPN’s SportsCenter anchor Michael Eaves began his basketball recap with a major spoiler, revealing a huge character death before the episode even began to air on the west coast. And fans were livid, to say the least.
I think the Spoiler Code is the most important law that we should follow as a society. There’s not much left in the world to be happy about on a daily basis, except for our shows and movies. Now obviously there’s an acceptable timeline – it varies from show to show and movie to movie, but it’s basically common sense: Avengers, a 3+ hour movie, should get some extra time considering people do have lives and jobs and can’t make it to the theater on opening night. Long series with multiple seasons that people are maybe catching up on, or binging, or a few episodes behind, or may be on an airplane and have to watch late – that gets a little extra time. Old shows – The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad – that’s relatively fair game, on you for not dedicating yourself to seeing it by now. It’s just a basic rule of society that decent human beings follow.
ESPN anchor Michael Eaves did not follow this code and he is therefore excommunicado from our society.
“Thanks you fucking dumptruck” is so good. I will be using that, that’s a promise.
