49 years ago today Bobby Orr scored the greatest goal in NHL history. On May 10th, 1970 Boston Bruins defenseman Bobby Orr scored the game winning goal to win the Stanley Cup as he soared through the air against the St. Louis Blues, creating arguably the most historic photograph of all time.
I’m no hockey historian but if I’m not mistaken that was the last time the St. Louis Blues played in the Stanley Cup Finals? Have they really gone 49 years without playing a single Stanley Cup game? Yikes. Hopefully that changes this year I guess.
