If You Don't Think The Final Season Of Veep Has Been Better Than Thrones You Deserve Adult Chicken Pox

Let me start by saying if you don’t get the headline do yourself a favor and watch last night’s episode of Veep. You’ll also get Fran’s tweet.

Now, let me follow this up by saying, no I’m not trying to be a contrarian or look for attention. I’m simply stating a fact. This season of Veep has blown Game of Thrones out of the water and it’s a damn shame that it’s being overshadowed. The writing of Veep has been absolutely fantastic whereas the writing to Game of Thrones has been massively criticized from what I’ve seen.

The writers of Veep are absolutely unreal. We see things brought up over the last few years that we didn’t think were real and then boom happens in real life. They do an unbelievable job of framing the entire episode. They write in jokes all over the place and build these characters where you’re just constantly following along. It’s remarkable. It’s also a shame that it’s ending simply because it’s one of the best comedies ever.

They’ve adapted too which is the best part about the show. It keeps up with the times whether they attempt to or not. However, more importantly, they seem to be wrapping everything up in a shortened season. It’s just 7 episodes this season – and we’re down to one more. Do I feel like there could be more? Absolutely. But it also feels like they’ve wrapped more up than Game of Thrones in less time.

Break time with one of the funniest scenes in television:

Now let’s just go to last night’s episode. First, I loved Game of Thrones last night. That was a phenomenal episode, but I still saw people complaining about the first 20ish minutes or so with all the love scenes and wanting stuff to pick up. Now, Veep? Well it was unreal again.

You had the adult chicken pox bit weaving in and out with Selina’s drone attacks leading to an elephant costume giving her the finger. This is the only show that can pull that off. And really that’s the impressive thing here. The development of the characters – especially Selina. In season 1 she was the VP and building a ‘real’ platform to run on. Now she’s making deals with China and you can see the development of a character. That’s what makes it awesome.

So, yeah, Thrones is Thrones. There’s no denying that. But, Veep has been better for the final season. I suggest tuning in.
