(WNEP) – A school cafeteria worker is accused of firing at children on a playground with a BB gun and threatening to shoot the ones she missed during lunch at school.

The woman who is a cafeteria worker in the Shamokin Area School District admitted to police to shooting at children while they were at the Ranshaw playground.

The children told police the woman was shooting at them Tuesday night from an upstairs window. She told them if she didn’t get them then, she would get them the next day at lunch.

Marie McWilliams, 30, is charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, and more.

According to Coal Township police, a child called 911 around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, saying a woman was shooting at him and his friends at the playground and he could hear BBs flying past his head.

When a parent confronted McWilliams she said, “if I don’t get them now, I will get them tomorrow at lunch,” because she works in the cafeteria at Shamokin Area School District.

McWilliams told police she was shooting at the kids with a BB gun because she got angry when they started to curse at her.

I don’t know anything about Coal Township, Pennsylvania. Not a single thing. I asked Fran – a known Pennsylvanian – if she had ever heard of it. She sure had not. Despite not knowing anything about Coal Township, this feels like the most Coal Township, PA, thing to have ever happened. Kids caterwauling on the playground, heckling the lunch lady, using curse words while the Sun was still out to the breaking point of BB gun play. Now I’ll be the first to say it, you can’t shoot kids with any sort of gun. You just can’t. It’s one of those few things we’ve all agreed upon in modern society. But I would be lying if I didn’t say I laughed out loud at her proclamation that no child would go unshot. Just cause I don’t get you at the playground doesn’t mean I wont get you at lunch tomorrow. What are you gonna do, Timmy? Not eat? I’m the goddamn lunch lady. You have to come right to my front door eventually. Where I will undoubtedly be packing a BB gun in which to give you a minor flesh wound that any standard elementary school nurse could take care of.
