Surviving Barstool S4 Ep. 3 | Shocking Betrayal Rocks the TribesWATCH NOW

This Elias Pettersson Car Commercial Is The Most Realistic Robotic Work In Years

I was in British Columbia this weekend filming two episodes of stuff for Barstool Outdoors. On Monday night after catching some DINOSAURS earlier that day, I went to Kevin Estrada of Sturgeon Slayers’ house to watch the Blues take on the Stars in Game 3, and during one of the commercial breaks I saw something that stopped me dead in my tracks. Most NHL fans are aware of Canucks Rookie Elias Pettersson by now. First he lit up the NHL in his rookie season, tallying 66 points in 71 games for the Canucks, and THEN he did an entire commercial without a pulse. Everybody knows acting is hard and doing it while flatlining has to be even harder. I mean the navigation voice on my Dad’s old Garmin had more variation in tone than this performance.

How great must the behind the scenes conversations have been for whatever local production company they hired to make this spot. Like were these shots that they used the only take? Or were there even lower energy takes that they had to scrap? I can’t imagine how awkward that set must have been.

We shouldn’t be so hard on him, as I sure as hell couldn’t do a commercial in Swedish, and not every car dealership/NHL player commercial can be as electric as this.

But you’d still hope there would be an ounce of evidence that he’s not a Swedish built robot set on destruction of the National Hockey League.
