Venezuelan Soccer Player Misses Penalty Kick And Loses The Tournament, Is Kicked Off The Team As Soon As He Gets To The Locker Room

(NAIJ.com) – Bendix Parra, a Venezuelan footballer, was sacked by his Paraguayan club Independiente after missing his penalty kick using the Panenka style.

Really bad day for one of my top 6 favorite Venezuela soccer players Bendix Parra, who missed a tournament-deciding penalty kick in humiliating fashion by trying to go Panenka style during the Copa Sudamericana.

For my non-footie fans out there, a “Panenka style” kick is “a technique used in penalty kick-taking in which the taker, instead of kicking the ball to the left or right of the goalkeeper, gives a subtle touch underneath the ball, causing it to rise and fall within the center of the goal, deceiving the goalkeeper who is counted on by the taker to have guessed a side and committed a dive away from the center.”

As you can see in this close up shot…

…Parra did not deceive the goaltender.

Ah well, what was it his padre always said? “Los obtendrás la próxima vez.”  Just gotta pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and learn your lesson from it moving forward.  Become a better, more focused player so you’re prepared to help your team the next opportunity you get.

SIKE bitch you’re fired!!!

It was a harsh outcome for Parra. But with his side languishing in the bottom of Paraguay’s Primera Division, the owner was not prepared to take any prisoners.

“It was very irresponsible his way of kicking the penalty, so we in the board made that decision,” President Heriberto Gamarra told Cardinal Deportivo.

“We want to leave this episode behind us.”

“If we passed phase each player would have a good little plate, 30 million for each more or less ($4,800 USD). That’s why in Colombia, the boys looked at him badly because of the economic damage. The club lost $200,000 too.” (ABC.com)

Dios mio.  Now THAT is how you manage a team.

And the worst part for Parra? He wasn’t even the only one to miss his kick! TWO other dudes did!

But Parra along alongside team-mates Jose Baez and Reinaldo Benitez all missed their respective spot-kicks as La Equidad went through.

It’s tough, but I do respect it.  I only wish those other two hombres got the boot too.  An invaluable lesson to teach and a message to send to aspiring players everywhere: don’t suck or you are fucking fired.

I mean how hard is a penalty kick.
