Everyone, Including the Florida Prosecutor's Dog, Want Him to #FreeKraft

Source - [T]he case of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been a travesty, and we should all pay attention.

In February, when Kraft was arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Fla., the media coverage immediately gravitated to the alleged human-trafficking angle. …

At a press conference about the arrests, Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said, “Modern-day slavery can happen anywhere, including in the peaceful community of Jupiter.”

The press swallowed all this whole. “Robert Kraft arrest puts spotlight on sex trafficking,” CBS declared. USA Today conflated trafficking with prostitution: “Sex trafficking, prostitution is anything but a ‘victimless crime,’ experts say.”

And The Boston Globe highlighted how “anti-human-trafficking activists want Robert Kraft banished from” the National Football League. …

Of course, when the police admitted months later that no human trafficking had occurred, it was too late. They had tied Kraft to the despicable crime of sex trafficking and then simply moved on. No corrections were issued on any of these stories.

Having spread this vicious lie about Kraft, the state attorney moved on to other methods of torment. Because Kraft wouldn’t admit his guilt, which could lead to repercussions from the NFL, the state attorney has moved to release the videos law enforcers allegedly took of Kraft at the massage parlor. …

Kneel and confess guilt, or we will release embarrassing footage of you. That shouldn’t be how our justice system operates. …

This is now a story about a how the justice system has moved to humiliate and harm Kraft because he refuses to bow to their demands that he proclaim his guilt.

What is being done to Kraft should sound an alarm for us all, including those with moral objections to prostitution.

Nice to hear from you, New York Post. Welcome to the party, pal.

You know, it’s never easy to stand alone in a fight for justice. To be that lone voice in the wilderness speaking truth to power can mean walking a lonely and unrewarding path. You often get vilified more than the evil you are speaking out against as powerful forces who are threatened by your moral stance work to silence you. It happened to Socrates. Jesus. Galileo. Gandhi. Parks. Thornton.

But I truly believe that in the end, Right Makes Might. And when you stand on the correct side of history without giving up, without compromising, eventually you will win over the masses. And that is what’s happening now with The Tug Rule persecution.

I don’t mind that I was right about this sham from Minute One and now others are coming over to my side. In fact, I’d be proud of that fact if it didn’t seem like hubris. The important thing is that the movement is underway. Hearts and minds are being won. And good people who believe in fairness and equal protection under the law are rallying to the cause.

Meanwhile, as State Attorney David Aronberg’s sting operation keeps getting exposed for the rights-trampling abuse of power it was, what’s doing? Like any scheming, corrupt politician, he’s pandering for votes more than ever. You can just hear his handlers saying “This Kraft thing is starting to fall apart and it’s starting to hurt our poll numbers. So we’re gonna need you to take a picture with a dog. A rescue dog. Rescue dogs test really well with focus groups, particularly among registered female voters.”

Next to Mr. Kraft, the one I feel worst for is poor Cookie, who looks miserable. Dogs can smell blind political ambition like it’s fear. And you can tell he wants no part of this feckless, dishonest weasel. So do us all a favor, Aronberg. #FreeKraft and #ReleaseCookie. They both deserve better. Then resign, you disgrace. Because so do the good people of Florida.
