My Georgia State Panthers Off To A Rough March Madness Start, Had To Pull Over To A Hillbilly Truck Stop To Watch The Selection Show
Ron Hunter is the reason I chose Georgia State as my #BudLightBusters tournament upset pick (definitely not because I had the 26th pick and there were like 2 teams left that weren’t 16 seeds, not that.) You may remember him as the father of RJ Hunter, who once did this after RJ hit a dagger three in the NCAA Tournament:
But I’m a little nervous after hearing this radio interview describing the Panthers’ Selection Sunday. What should have been a nice catered relaxing event in a posh banquet hall or somebody’s comfy living room…ended up being a hillbilly truck stop off the interstate that was so sketchy the players didn’t want to get off the bus. Turns out they mistimed their route and thought they could watch on the bus, but they didn’t get CBS. Poor planning and poor execution – those aren’t traits that make me confident rolling into the tourney. Don’t forget – This Is March. When the bright lights come on the big stage you don’t want to be sitting at a truck stop with a 90 year old semi driver who showers with Purell in his front seat.
Spin zone: these guys are so gritty they don’t need your fucking creature comforts like TVs and La-z-boy recliners. Good luck to Houston dealing with grit like that.
