Is Ryan Pace #Done With Free Agency After Doing Almost Nothing?
I’ve gotten so used to Ryan Pace putting his big ole balls on the table that this free agency period feels like a big disappointment. It felt like Pace was moving chess pieces around. Restructure Golden, restructure Khalil Mack, move money, to go get…Cordarrelle Patterson and Marvin Hall?
Patterson is a special teamer+. Basically Ryan Pace paid Patterson to be an upgrade over Kevin White. That feels like a lateral move. I like Clinton-Dix, but he’s probably not going to improve the defense.
I don’t want to be a team like the Jets who just routinely dump piles of money on free agents and ALWAYS have it blow up in their face. The Bears are a good team with a good culture and don’t need to win in March, necesarrily. BUT…it feels like this team might be a player or two away from a Super Bowl and I hate feeling like the Bears punted on improving the roster in the short term because the window for them to win is RIGHT NOW. Maybe Pace can find enough value in the draft and count on progress from the offense to take this team to the next level, but for right now this offseason that had rumors of LeVeon Bell feels like it fell short.
