David Letterman Resurfaces On Howard Stern Looking Like He Just Escaped From Shutter Island
First of all, me saying he doesn’t look great is a compliment. When he retired all he wanted to do was grow a beard and stop wearing suits, so to see him doing that warms my heart. Even though he looks like the guy who used to scream “Respect!” at the pigeons outside Post Office Square, I’m still happy for him. I bet he’s able to walk around the city without being bothered no problem, which is exactly what he wanted. He’s also one of my all-time favorite entertainers and the greatest late night host to ever live. He single-handedly revolutionized comedy and television as we know it. He’s earned the right to walk around looking like he escaped Shutter Island.
At any rate, this interview was awesome. Sterns cut right through the BS and started asking him about his career, which he never talks about. The guy legitimately spent 35 years on television and was too embarrassed to watch himself. I wish the clip was longer because I could listen to these two talk forever. Especially once they started talking about Farley. Particularly this appearance. Watch the whole thing and you’ll see what he meant.
I hope Letterman starts making more appearances, but I doubt he will. Whatever. As long as we can get a taste every once in a while I’ll be satisfied.
