I Just Discovered An All-Obstacle-Course Motorsport And Don't Fully Understand It But Am All In

Every now & then I’ll do a blog with people sitting on the toilet in mind, and this is one of them; a quick scroller where you see neat stuff & maybe learn a thing or two before the flush.

I stumbled across ‘X-Trial’ myself while scrolling around on Reddit, when a photo of a Motocross bike at a 90 degree angle on a sharp ledge caught my eye. I knew they had races, but I never knew obstacle course competitions were a thing, let alone that 200lb bikes could do stuff like this with such precision.

I thought that was just the stuff of 90s video games…

The Grand Final of the 2019 FIM X-Trial World Championship took place in Granada, Spain last week & I watched the final round where it was down to two; Toni Bou and Jamie Busto. (Busto won.)

It consisted of six timed sections where you lost points for putting your feet down, falling, not making jumps, etc….

1) A-Frames – they must do this section in both directions.

2) Octagonal Block Jumps

4) Cylinders – both directions

5) Random Shapes You Have To Hop On From The Floor (????) The announcer didn’t say it that time but I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s called

This is absolutely something I would go to. When it comes to any motorized sport I’ve found that I usually have to go to an event in person to really ‘get it’, and I can 100% see me sit-in with a couple tall boys & a hot dog getting into this. If you’re interested in checking out the schedule (and have the funds to hop around Europe because they don’t seem to have it here) (correct me if I’m wrong!) click HERE.
