Ryan Reynolds Posted An Awesome Tribute To John Candy On The 25th Anniversary Of His Death

I’m such a sucker for these types of videos. Any time there’s a tribute for anything I get emotional. So when I saw it was the 25th anniversary of John Candy’s death and people started posting about it, I immediately went on YouTube and started watching his work. I encourage all of our younger readers who may not know who he was to do the same. In short, Candy was an absolute legend. A Fallstaffian, Farley-esque man who dominated the comedy scene from the 1980s right up until his untimely death in 1994. Cool Runnings, Stripes, Uncle Buck, Spaceballs, The Blue’s Brothers, Wagon’s East, The Great Outdoors, Planes Trains and Automobiles, National Lampoon’s Vacation- Candy was the star of all of them, even if he wasn’t meant to be. He was also a regular on SCTV and SNL back when SNL was actually good. I don’t know who put together that video for Reynolds, but it does a great job of highlighting just how funny John was. Here are a few trailers for some of his most popular movies.

So why am I telling you this? Mostly because Deke Zucker tweeted at the Breakfast crew Friday afternoon and Large brought it up this morning, which prompted a conversation about Candy’s early death (and possible ours?). But also because he’s a guy worth remembering. RIP John Candy. Gone but not forgotten.
