If You Slap The Floor On Defense And Immediately Give Up A Bucket You Should Be Benched For The Rest Of The Game

Sometimes basketball gods can be cruel motherfuckers. This is one of those cases. Kelly Oubre, who has been playing well since the trade to Phoenix, decided to slap the floor. Get himself fired up to guard the rookie God known as Luka. He gets in his stance and is ready to limit Luka and his stepback.

First step, no problem. Doesn’t get beat right away. Doncic makes the pass to the wing. Okay, step 1 complete. Oh, no we have an immediate dribble handoff. This is where it all goes wrong. Doncic has a step almost immediately and the entire wing to attack with just one guy in the corner.

Oubre actually recovers decently well here. He catches up to Doncic and takes away a layup. However, Doncic still has that one-handed semi fade that goes in. Now, this is where rules are rules. You can’t give up a bucket not matter how easy or tough the shot is after you slap the floor defensively. If you give up a bucket after doing that you have to go to the bench for the rest of the game. You know it’s not your night at that point.

Let’s just leave the floor slapping to Duke when they stop being cool again. Let’s wait until they have a Wojo or Battier out there slapping the floor and annoying everyone. I mean nothing ever goes right when it happens. Remember Jae’Sean Tate?

Yeah, he had a season-ending shoulder injury when this happened. He also gave up the bucket. Nothing good happens.
