Alright here we go. The first set of fan voting results are out for this year’s All Star Game so let’s have a look. As a reminder, here are the rules

Fans account for 50 percent of the vote to determine the 10 starters for the 68th NBA All-Star Game, which will take place at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on TNT. All current NBA players and a media panel each account for 25 percent of the vote, with every voter completing one full ballot featuring two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference. Voting for fans, players and media will conclude on Monday, Jan. 21 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

The 2019 NBA All-Star Game will follow last year’s format: The two team captains will draft rosters from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves in each conference, making their picks regardless of conference affiliation. The captains will be the All-Star starter from each conference who receives the most fan votes in his conference. Details about the NBA All-Star Draft will be announced at a later date.

Got it? Cool. Here’s where we stand as of now

Eastern Conference

Frontcourt

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL): 991,561

2. Kawhi Leonard (TOR): 774,172

3. Joel Embiid (PHI): 648002

4. Jimmy Butler (PHI): 222,206

5. Jayson Tatum (BOS): 214,622

6. Blake Griffin (DET): 192,694

7. Vince Carter (ATL): 76,022

8. Andre Drummond (DET): 68,204

9. Gordon Hayward (BOS): 66,492

10. Al Horford (BOS): 62,288

OK, so we can all agree that Hayward and Horford aren’t All Stars this year, but shout out to Celtics fans for turning out. Nothing else is really all that much of a shock, you gotta give Vince some love just because he’s still balling at 41, but no surprise Giannis/Kawhi/Embiid are the top 3 vote getters.

Backcourt

1. Kyrie Irving (BOS): 910,329

2. Dwyane Wade (MIA): 409,156

3. Kemba Walker (CHA): 319,519

4. Ben Simmons (PHI): 259,993

5. Victor Oladipo (IND): 198,009

6. Kyle Lowry (TOR): 180,571

7. Zach LaVine (CHI): 128,605

8. Jeremy Lin (ATL): 62,573

9. Bradley Beal (WSH): 61,269

10. John Wall (WSH): 54,366

Fuckin Wade and the sympathy retiring vote. That’s why fan voting should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s a popularity thing because we can all agree this is for sure way too high. No surprise Kyrie leads the way as he is insanely popular and having a great year, and it’s nice to see the people of CHA coming out for their hometown guy in Kemba, who is also having an All NBA year.

Western Conference

Frontcourt

1. LeBron James (LAL): 1,083,363

2. Luka Doncic (DAL): 679,839

3. Kevin Durant (GS): 659,968

4. Anthony Davis  (DAL): 605,417

5. Paul George (OKC): 580,055

6. Steven Adams (OKC): 261,327

7. Nikola Jokic (DEN): 235,272

8. Kyle Kuzma (LAL): 195,477

9. Draymond Green (GS): 138,017

10. DeMarcus Cousins (GS): 92,977

LUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Incredible. Who saw that coming? Luka ahead of KD or AD? Insane. Also what the hell is going on in DEN, Nuggets fans need to stop smoking and get to voting because that is too low for him. He’s an MVP candidate and he’s 7th in fan voting? Such is life as a Nugget I guess.

Backcourt

1. Steph Curry (GS): 793,111

2. Derrick Rose (MIN): 698,086

3. James Harden (HOU): 541,606

4. Russell Westbrook (OKC): 459,792

5. Klay Thompson (GS): 247,618

6. Damian Lillard (POR): 200,609

7. DeMar DeRozan (SA): 197,524

8. Lonzo Ball (LAL): 175,040

9. Devin Booker (PHX): 111,897

10. Chris Paul (HOU): 101,104

Let’s go DRose!! Great story, great comeback, and the Wolves fans are showing that love. Don’t hate that one bit. My beef is with Blazers fans. You guys love to talk about how nobody respects Damian Lillard and he’s not talked about in terms of the elite guards, well how about you do your part and fucking vote for him? If MIN fans can turn out like that for Rose, where are Blazers fans? I imagine there are more than 200k of you out there.

Remember, this is just part of the formula and there’s still plenty of time for things to change, but I would say for the most part fans got this right. Maybe Wade is a little too high but that was to be expected since this is his farewell tour. So I now turn to you, are there any names on here that surprise you? It’s looking like the captains are going to be LeBron/Giannis which I guess is cool. I’m just hoping there’s a good amount of drama for the live Draft, so in that regard I need Giannis to hold onto his lead over Kyrie. I want to see what LeBron does with that whole thing. The one thing that could make it spicy is if Kyrie wins that spot and takes Anthony Davis, which now that I think about it actually has to happen, so everyone please go vote for Kyrie. Thank you.
