'Jay And Silent Bob Reboot' Is About To Enter Pre-Production!
At long last, ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’ is on the verge of pre-production! I say “on the verge”, unlike the majority of the folk running with this story today, because in the flick-confirming tweet (which should come as no surprise to anybody who’s even slightly paid attention to Kevin Smith over the last two or so years), he mentions that they’ve begun “pre-pre-production”, so we’re not quite there yet, but close!
I should note that while the title does indicate a “Reboot”, there won’t be anyone but Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes playing New Jersey’s favorite drug dealers, as this film isn’t actually a reboot, it’s a sequel to 2001’s ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’. In that now-classic, Jay and Silent Bob travel cross-country to Hollywood in attempt to halt the production of ‘Bluntman and Chronic’, a superhero blockbuster flick using their likeness, and in this new one, Kevin Smith pokes fun at the current climate of cinema by having Jay and Silent Bob return to stop the production of a ‘Bluntman and Chronic’ reboot. You follow that? It felt like a mouthful to type.
ANYYYYWAY, this’ll be Kevin Smith’s first return to the View Askewniverse – his shared cinematic universe – since ‘Clerks II’ in 2006, and it excites me almost as much as ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ do. Honestly.
Best of luck to our new friend Kevin on production. Glad 2018 wasn’t the year that took ya, Kev!
