No Offense to LeBron’s Son, But Owen Sounds Like The Best Player on That Team

I’m sure everyone saw the clip and blog about how LeBron James is the best father in the entire world, and how he just so happened to be mic’d up while delivering a heartfelt postgame speech to his son. If you didn’t, here it is:

As much as I despise LeBron for how he hit it and quit it TWICE in Cleveland, I will give him credit where credit is due: he is a good person. He’s done an unimaginable amount of charity work for the city of Akron, and his iPromise school (although funded more by the city than by him) is a great way to help those receive a positive educational experience. So while I do think it was comical that he made sure he was being recorded while speaking to his son, I do not think he was being fake. I think that’s the real LeBron James, a father of three.

The only issue I have with this clip, which he posted to his 45.7 million followers on Instagram but will later get upset about the media talking about his son, is that LeBron is flat out wrong. He thinks Bryce made three of the biggest plays of the game?? Listen again to LeBron and his photographic memory recall the 4th grade play-by-play again.

Ummm, it sounds to me like Owen made the biggest plays of the game…..? Kudos to Bryce Maximus for passing the ball up the court and for swinging the ball to the wing, but Owen is the one who got the and-1, and Owen is the one hit the game-winner. I don’t recall the self-proclaimed King ever giving Mo Williams credit for inbounding the ball for his game winners?Orlando Magic v Cleveland Cavaliers, Game 2

Most of the time he doesn’t even have time to thank the person that passed the ball up the court. He just jumps on the scorer’s table and basks in the glory of being the hometown hero (well, until he decides to leave).

So how about LeBron give credit where credit is due for once and let someone else enjoy the spotlight? Bryce Maximus should be over with his team, celebrating how Owen just carried them to a victory. Someone call Colin Cowherd. But it was the same old song and dance from the King, who always has to make the postgame about him.

It’s not shocking that LeBron and his son had to steal the publicity in one of the biggest u11 games of the season, but I am surprised that James is still sticking by Bryce Maximus’ side. The LeBron I know would’ve adopted Owen by now. Teamed up with the best. Because I know that his first son, Bronny Jr, is a stud based on the fact that LeBron has told me each and every time he’s dunked. But it sounds like this Owen kid would be a better 3rd running mate than Bryce Maximus. It appears that LeBron and Bryce both need the ball in their hands to contribute. Maybe Owen could stretch the floor out a little bit? Remember, LeBron always needs to make a Big 3. He can’t get it done by himself.
