SAD: Neil deGrass Tyson Being Investigated By Fox, National Geographic For Sexual Misconduct

VARIETY – Fox and the producers of the television series “Cosmos” have opened an investigation into multiple sexual misconduct claims against the show’s host, Neil deGrasse Tyson. The move follows a report on the website Patheos in which two women accused Tyson of inappropriate sexual behavior. “The credo at the heart of ‘Cosmos’ is to follow the evidence wherever it leads,” the producers said in a joint statement. “The producers of ‘Cosmos’ can do no less in this situation. We are committed to a thorough investigation of this matter and to act accordingly as soon as it is concluded.” Fox Broadcasting also issued a statement, saying, “We have only just become aware of the recent allegations regarding Neil deGrasse Tyson. We take these matters very seriously and we are reviewing the recent reports.”

Dammit, Neil. Just, dammit. I know, these are allegations and he’s being investigated by his employers and not in a court of law, but still. The damage has been done. Whether you like to admit it or not, Neil deGrass Tyson has lost at least a bit of his wholesome credibility from all of this. There aren’t many almost unanimously beloved figures left who at least are perceived as being clean, virtuous figures. Somebody make sure Tom Hanks is still behaving himself because if he falls, may God have mercy on humanity. Or Barack Obama. That would be a shocking one, too. If that were to happen one could say there would be “No Hope” left. Nailed it.

But for real, not cool and definitely not good for Neil deGrass Tyson. In a perfect world, everyone would just be decent people and we’d all enjoy stuff like him on the Joe Rogen podcast in peace.
