Does This Look Like The Face Of A First Lady Who Committed $200M In Fraud

A Philippine court found former first lady Imelda Marcos guilty of graft (fraud) and ordered her arrest Friday in a rare conviction among many corruption cases that she’s likely to appeal to avoid jail and losing her seat in Congress.

The special anti-graft Sandiganbayan court sentenced Marcos, 89, to serve 6 to 11 years in prison for each of the seven counts of violating an anti-corruption law when she illegally funneled about $200 million to Swiss foundations in the 1970s as Metropolitan Manila governor.

Among the things that $200M brought her, at least 3,000 pairs of shoes. She was well known throughout the country for her massive collection, most of which is now on display at a museum.

The Marcos family has a long history in the Philippines where Imelda’s late husband Ferdinand was a harsh dictator who committed a fair share of atrocities. No big deal. Following a revolt & subsequent self-exile, Ferdinand died & the Marcos family returned to somehow win the people back & serve in various government positions. Estimates on how much they raked in over the years are between $5 – $10 BILLION.

So does this look like the face of a First Lady who committed $200M in fraud? Uh, yeah. ‘Lil bit. Am sure there are comfy shoes in prison.
