The MTA Made A Bunch Of Kids Lose Their Minds By Creating A "Haunted Subway Station"
Source – The scary state of the subway has reduced even children to tears. The first-ever “Haunted Subway” is underway at Union Square — and already it’s sent at least three of the systems youngest riders into hysterics, video shows.
Footage from the opening night shows one transit worker in full uniform — with half of his face chewed off and bloodied. Another — a sergeant with the Anti-Crime Unit — is dressed up as Pennywise, the uber-creepy clown from Stephen King’s “It.”
NYPD officers were on hand to console the clearly shaken thrill-seekers as they poured out of a pitch-black room, which is divided into sections like a maze.
“This is not a terrifying, horrifying experience but for a child, it could be scary,” NYPD Sgt. Carlos Nieves told The Post Friday, adding that kids are warned beforehand.
“We talk to them and say, listen, everything in there is not real,” said Nieves. “It’s just trying to have fun on Halloween. All the people dressed up in there are police officers.”
Nothing says fun like fearing for your life on the N/Q/R train. Although to be fair, this is a lot less scary than a real N/Q/R train. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve entered the subway and seen people pissing, puking, fighting, demanding crack from Jehovah’s Witnesses etc. etc..
Kids probably don’t notice that stuff though. They only notice when a guy in a mask is screaming in their face pretending that they’re going to murder them. Which wouldn’t bother me at all. Then again, I’m a grown man and these kids haven’t even reached double digits yet. No wonder they’re crying their faces off. Their whole life they’ve been warned about the “dangers of the subway” and then this happens.
I love how the MTA tries to play it off like the kids were having fun too.
“Most kids were really into it and came out laughing.”
No they weren’t. The whole display is only two days long so it won’t last much longer, but man did they miss the mark on this one. Not only that, I feel like they should be removing monsters from the subway rather than adding them.
Oh well. Best of luck to all the trick or treaters out there!
