The Bucks/Hornets Ending Is Why The NBA Being Back Rules

I don’t want to hear that it’s early. That these games mean nothing because the Warriors are going to win the title. Save it. Here we are on Opening Night for essentially the rest of the league and already we are being blessed with great drama. Who doesn’t love butt clenching endings? So far tonight we’ve had three games come down to the final seconds, all decided by 3 points or less. As I write this it’s looking like MIN/SA is heading that way too as they are essentially tied midway through the third quarter. Now what happened in CHA tonight is worth mentioning. First, the Hornets look incredible in their throwback uniforms playing throwback court. It’s every bit as awesome as I hoped it would be when they announced it this summer. Kemba went all Kemba to the tune of 41 points and Giannis had light work with 25/18. You expect that from those two, but we also got big boy, big testicle shots from a guy who couldn’t even really crack the rotation last year. Malik Monk was cold blooded

and then that final possession, my god when do you ever see Kemba miss a layup like that? He had already made a buzzer beater in this game, and if you make a list of guards you want the ball with the game on the line, he has to be high on the list. Kemba is built for these moments. So he misses the layup, fine, but then that Batum wide open three? I feel for everyone in MIL who was watching this game because there’s no chance they felt confident in him missing it. Safe to say given what CHA pays him they probably expected him to make it too.

And honestly, the NBA is the real winner here. What a thrilling start to their season. Only two blowouts so far and one of them came from one of their most historic franchises. Just when you think Adam Silver can’t love life any more, he just keeps on winning.
