How Is Aaron Hicks Getting Ready For Tonight's Game 3 of the ALDS: He's 'Peeing Like Crazy'

Divisional Round - New York Yankees v Boston Red Sox - Game One

NY Post

As a result of keeping hydrated so a hamstring problem can be overcome and he can get back in the Yankees lineup, Aaron Hicks is leaking fluids.

Hicks left Game 1 of the ALDS against the Red Sox on Friday night at Fenway with a tight right hamstring and didn’t play in Game 2. He expects to be ready for Monday night’s Game 3 at Yankee Stadium with the best-of-five series tied 1-1.

“We have been doing a lot of things. We have been trying to get me hydrated. So every single day I’ve been peeing like crazy, being hydrated,” Hicks said Sunday at Yankee Stadium, where the Yankees didn’t work out but some players, Hicks included, received treatment. “I am kind of testing it out, see how it feels.”

Well, that’s a new one. I’ve heard of watching game film, I’ve heard of turning off your phone so you can lock in and drown out the noise, but Aaron Hicks is just peeing a ton in preparation for tonight’s postseason game. Tommy Smokes is probably doing the same, but for other reasons.

During Friday night’s Game 1 of the ALDS between the Yankees and Red Sox, Aaron Hicks had to leave in the 4th inning after a single to right. Hicks gingerly jogged down the line to the bag and immediately put both hands on his knees, clearly in pain. Boone and Head Athletic Trainer Steve Donahue came out to check on him, but I still expected him to stay him. The quick check in turned into a five minute conversation which led to Hicks being pulled from the game with a hamstring injury. Originally everyone feared it was a pull and he’d be done for the series. It looks like it was just a bad cramp, so he’s been hydrating like a motherfucker and peeing nonstop to get ready for tonight. Pee away Hicksy, we need you back.

Hicks is massive to the Yankees on both sides of the ball. He brings a plus-plus arm in center, along with great range to the baseball. Offensively he is having his best year by far, being one of five players this season with 20 HR+ 10+ SB, and 90+ BB (Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Jose Ramirez, and Alex Bregman). He’s easily one of baseballs more underrated studs, so it’s clear his presence is missed in the lineup.
