REPORT: Dustin Johnson And Brooks Koepka Almost Fist Fought After The Ryder Cup

Golf Channel- Golf Channel insider Tim Rosaforte on Tuesday’s “Morning Drive” confirmed that Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka had to be separated in the European team room on Sunday night of the Ryder Cup. Multiple sources also revealed to Golf Channel that the incident occurred. Original story: U.S. Ryder Cup teammates and close friends Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka almost came to blows while visiting their opponent’s team room after Europe’s 17 1/2-to-10 1/2 drubbing of the U.S. side, according to multiple published reports. Johnson and Koepka had to be separated, according to witnesses cited in an article in The Telegraph by longtime golf writer James Corrigan. The source of the friction was not known, and the dust-up was considered unusual because Johnson and Koepka appear to have a very close relationship. They often work out together at trainer Joey Diovisalvi’s Joey D Golf Performance Center in Jupiter, Fla. 

Jesus christ. How dysfunctional was Team USA? Turns out they were maybe the most dysfunctional team ever assembled. Here we all thought that they were gonna be golf’s Dream Team and were gonna dominate the Europeans but it turns out they were more like the 2011 Red Sox. Dysfunctional as can be. It’s no wonder they received an epic beatdown on the other side of the pond. First we had Patrick Reed tossing Jordan Spieth and Jim Furyk under the bus to the New York Times and now there’s this report that Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson almost came to blows after the Ryder Cup ended. Bizarre stuff.

The question then becomes, was this just a couple of drunk guys being dudes and almost punching each other in the face OR is there more going on behind the scenes between DJ and Koepka. There’s a good chance it’s the former because Team USA had just gotten blown the fuck out and players were clearly pissed about how things turns out (see: Reed, Patrick). Johnson and Koepka are supposedly close friends and even close friends get into brawls. I’d even say fights happen more frequently between good friends than strangers. Guys will be dudes and dudes will punch each other in the face. It’s a story as old as time itself. There are other rumors out there but that’s the story I’m gonna go with until we get more information on the what happened. DJ and Brooks will obviously get asked about it the next time either of them is in front of the microphone and we’ll go from there. Is there a chance we never truly find out why it happened? Yes but what we do know is that Team USA is a fucking mess.

PS- I’d take Brooks in a first round knockout by the way. Yeah I suppose DJ has the reach advantage but he’s super lower energy and Brooks Koepka is the Hulk. So it’s Brooks in a first round KO.
