Pitchfork- Apple has reportedly rejected “Vital Signs,” an in-the-works TV show starring and executive-produced by Dr. Dre that was being made for its streaming service, after CEO Tim Cook deemed its content too graphic and violent, The Wall Street Journal reports. The semi-autobiographical, six-episode show had been touted as Apple’s debut scripted series, with a cast including Sam Rockwell, Michael K. Williams, and Ian McShane. According to The Wall Street Journal, Cook objected to scenes involving drugs, sex, and guns. The show may end up being broadcast elsewhere.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rockwell said that the show featured him, Williams, and McShane playing different aspects of Dr. Dre’s personality. “I play Ego, and Ian McShane is Vengeance, and Michael K. Williams is Negativity. There’s also a character called Prodigy,” he said. Rockwell also told EW that “We had a couple of orgy scenes. That was interesting.” The Wall Street Journal reports, “Apple has made clear, say producers and agents, that it wants high-quality shows with stars and broad appeal, but it doesn’t want gratuitous sex, profanity or violence.”

Alternate headline: Apple Forgets Who Dr. Dre Is And Drops A Show Containing Dr. Dre-Like Content

Uhhhhhhh excuse me? So Apple is working with Dr. Dre, the guy who was part of the World’s Most Dangerous Group, the guy who said fuck the police, the guy who has smoked the second most amount of weed ever (shoutout to Snoop), the guy who signed crazy ass Eminem, the guy who slapped Dee Barnes, the guy whose debut album was called The Chronic and they decided to cancel his show because of too much sex, drugs and violence. Who did they think they were working with? Mr. Rogers? Dr. Dre has made literally a billion dollars making content about sex, drugs and violence. He’s awesome at it. The show was autobiographical to Dr. Dre’s life. There’s gonna be some crazy shit that happened in Compton. It seems that Apple erred is assuming they could distance their efforts from Dr. Dre and his content.

Truthfully all this did was make me wanna see the show even more. This is the best hype machine ever. Apple better think again and release the episodes of Dr. Dre’s show ASAP. Ratings would go through the roof. I mean just how gratuitous were the sex scenes that Tim Cook was like, “Nope. Fuck this”? They had to be insane. Give us the show, Apple. We all buy a stupid new iPhone every 18 months. We’ve been loyal. Now give us Dr. Dre’s show about sex, drugs and violence.
