There Is No Grittier Moment In Sports Than Going Through The Glass To Make A Play In Padel

For all you uncultured swine out there who don’t know what Padel is, essentially it’s just enclosed tennis where you can use the walls to keep the ball in play. Or something like that. I think the court is significantly smaller than an actual tennis court so Padel is pretty much the Arena Football League of tennis. If that makes sense.

So naturally, Padel is non-stop action and every point means more than it does in actual tennis. I mean when is the last time you saw Federer or Nadal or Djokovic actually lay out and sacrifice their body just to make a play? Probably never. But in Padel?

All that is, is another day out on the court. It just means more. When you’re grinding it out for every single point, sometimes you have to sacrifice the body. Sometimes you need to put yourself in harms way for the betterment of the team. And that’s another reason why you’ll see way more heart in Padel than you will in regular tennis. Because it’s mostly a doubles sport. It’s not about the individual, it’s about the team. Maybe if our guy over here only had to worry and care about himself, he’d be a little more hesitant to send himself through the glass there. But he can’t let down his teammate. He can’t make a business decision here in that situation when he knows his teammate would lay out for him. So what if he has to spend the next few days picking little shards of glass out of his back?

Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory… lasts forever. A few pieces of glass ripping your back to shreds is nothing compared to how good winning feels. Need more guys like this in sports. Absolute warriors.

P.S. – Here are some more broken glass moments to help you kill some time this Monday morning.
