Joandrea Mcatee, 27, was arrested Thursday. Authorities said she let three of her students take turns driving the school bus down a rural road near Valparaiso. The student were 11, 13 and 17.
Video show Mcatee appearing to instruct the students on the brake and how to drive the bus. This video was shared on social media.
No one was hurt. Mcatee was fired by the Porter Township School Administration. Mcatee is charged with felony neglect of a child.
I don’t hate this. I used to move cars around the driveway before I was legal which is why I’m so comfortable behind the wheel. I’d say I needed to “make room for basketball” and then just floor it up and down the driveway until I got yelled at. It was a blast. Unfortunately, I got my driveway driving privileges revoked when I decided to go for a spin around town and ended up passing my parents on the main drag. It’s funny to think about now, but at the time is was a big deal. The point is, the earlier kids can learn to drive the better off they’ll be in the long run.
Anyway, I’m surprised these kids ratted the lady out. Whoever did it either didn’t realize people would see the Snap or they were just jealous that they didn’t get to drive. That, or they wanted to expose the fact there is no way in hell their driver was twenty-seven years old.
I’m not going to harp on it too much because I’m not an asshole, but in the words of Donald Trump, “there’s plenty of subject matter there.” She looks like LeVar Burton from Reading Rainbow.
You’d think that the students would want to keep this one to themselves. If this lady’s letting them actually drive the bus imagine what else they could get away with? Having a cool bus driver in elementary school was the shit. Standing up in the back, switching seats, catching air over speed bumps. Hand jobs. They can kiss all that goodbye. They’re not even going to realize how good they had it until they get their new driver either. Sad. Drivers like Joandrea are once in a life time.
