20 years ago today Carson Daly came into our lives as one of the most important shows for us in our 30s premiered. That’s right, September 14, 1998, Total Request Live became a thing. It gave us the Britney vs Christina rivalry. It gave us Backstreet Boys vs NSync. It gave us something to watch the moment we got home from school and then get pissed about where a song was ranked. It was wonderful. I know TRL lasted years longer, but it really ended in 2003 when Daly left the show to do his own thing. So we’ll look at 1998-2002. In honor of TRL, this is the top-10 TRL songs from that timeframe. There is no rhyme or reason to this list besides of being the 10 music videos/songs I think of when I think of TRL.
