Thousands Showed Up To Blue Slide Park Last Night For A Mac Miller Vigil

Pitchfork- Thousands of Mac Miller fans gathered last night at Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park, the namesake of his debut album, to memorialize the late rapper, CBS affiliate KDKA reports. Miller’s music played as tearful fans held candles and left flowers and written messages in tribute. The park’s distinctive slide had received a fresh coat of blue paint earlier in the day. Miller’s grandmother appeared in the evening to thank fans. A petition launched this week aims to have the park—which is part of the larger Frick Park—renamed in Mac Miller’s honor. Since his death Friday, tributes have poured in from Childish Gambino, J. Cole, Fiona Apple, and many, many more.

Very very very cool to see. People showed up in throngs to Blue Slide Park to honor the great Mac Miller 4 days after he died from an overdose. Candlelight vigils are always gonna be sad but there’s something also something really great about celebrating the life of someone who was truly great. Goosebumps on goosebumps on goosebumps watching the people of Pittsburgh rap the words of Mac at the top of their lungs. Pittsburgh was obviously a big part of his music so to see people going crazy was awesome. Super emotional seeing Mac Miller;s grandmother get emotional about how many people showed up to honor her grandson. Just goes to show how many people loved Mac Miller and his music.

Has it sunk in that Mac Miller is dead at the age of extremely young age of 26? Nope. Not even a little bit.
