Goddammit. We Did It Again. We Missed The Death Diving World Championships

I was first introduced to the beautiful sport of Death Diving last year when we accidentally missed the 2017 World Championships. In that blog, I wrote these exact words.

Anyway, you can bet your sweet ass that we won’t be missing the 2018 World Championships of Death Diving. Marking it on the calendar right now as we speak. That’s my promise to you.

Well, folks, it is with an extremely heavy heart that I must announce that I have let all of you down. A blogger is only as good as his word and I failed to live up to mine. I told you that we wouldn’t miss the 2018 World Championships yet the competition has already come and gone, and I was not there to cover it. This sucks. I hate disappointing people, especially the readers. But anyway–if this is your first time hearing about Death Diving, here’s a quick summary. Basically it’s exactly what everybody wishes Olympic diving would be. We’re not looking for technique and precision here. We’re just looking for some kick ass moves and seeing guys come as close as possible to really, really fucking themselves up off a diving platform without actually getting hurt. It’s just a bunch of Norwegian dudes going full send and the results are glorious.

Pretty sure I’ve seen this dive attempted from a roof in at least 10 or 11 posts on the Instagram account but the only difference is those kids usually end up smacking their face on the concrete. Feel like this guy could do some real damage as a member of the Bills Mafia.

Probably should have gotten a little chubbed up for this next attempt. If you got it, flaunt it.

And congratulations to Emil Lybekk on this jump that brought home the 2018 World Championship Gold.

Now if you can find it in your heart to forgive me and give me a second chance, you can bet your sweet ass that we won’t be missing the 2019 World Championships of Death Diving. Marking it on the calendar right now as we speak. That’s my promise to you.
