Bet You Didn't Think The Greatest Sports Highlight Of The Year Would Come From Spikeball

Lotta great moments in sports have gone down in the year 2018 so far. Some off the top of my head right now are the Philly Special, Tua Tagovailoa’s dart in overtime to win the National Championship, the USA Women’s team winning gold over Canada in a shootout at the Winter Olympics. There have been plenty of incredible moments that demonstrate human greatness and excellence via athletic achievement, but none of them even come close to this Spikeball rally.

I don’t care who you are or how good you think you are at Spikeball. Sure, you may be able to make a few big time plays out on the beach with your crew. But I counted at least 5 or 6 separate times in this rally where that point would have ended if this were a match between anything less than 4 of the most elite athletes in the world. AT LEAST 5 or 6. For most people that rally would have been over 10 seconds into it. But instead, this thing goes on for another 25 seconds and featured one of the most ridiculous saves these eyes have ever seen.

Honestly, it just doesn’t feel right that the point didn’t end on that spike. It feels even more wrong that his teammate ended up letting him down in the end. But that’s Spikeball, baby. A sport which can take you from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in a matter of seconds. And in the end, it took a pretty damn impressive recovery to come away with the win.

Not quite as impressive as the last one but it’s a big time play nevertheless. The type of play that separates the really, really good Spikeball players from the great Spikeball players. The ability to stick with the play. To stay engaged and locked in the rally regardless of what the other team is throwing your way. Pres knows what I’m talking about.

Can’t find the Barstool Spikeball Game video right now. I fear that it may have been sacrificed to the DevNest.
