Lyin' Mychal Kendricks Tells His New Teammates In Cleveland That They Have Way More Talent Than The Eagles
Mychal Kendricks will always have a special place in my heart, as will every other member of the Super Bowl LII Champion Philadelphia Eagles team. It doesn’t matter that he’s a Cleveland Brown these days. If you were a part of the team that brought the first ever Super Bowl to the city of Philadelphia, I will kiss you on the lips no questions asked. But despite my willingness to smooch Mychal Kendricks, we simply cannot allow this line from the teaser of next week’s episode of Hard Knocks to just slide by.
Looks like the Hard Knocks writers are really trying to keep pace with Game of Thrones these days with all those twists and turns. The Cleveland Browns who had..*checks last year’s standings*..zero wins all of last season have so much more talent than the defending Super Bowl Champions? Didn’t realize HBO had hired M. Night Shyamalan. The Browns were right there all season long. If they would have just caught a few minor breaks here and there, that could have been them hoisting the Lombardi Trophy last season. The talent was there, they were just unlucky is all. Everybody knows that. And just look at how much talent they have in Cleveland. Baker Mayfield’s John Dorsey impression is good enough to win America’s Got Talent.
Speaking of John Dorsey, there may not be a more talented gum chewer in the world besides WhiteSox Dave. So right there the Browns already have the more talented quarterback and the more talented general manager. Two pretty important positions if I do say so myself. And how about Wylin’ Bob Wylie? This man has a gift from the Gods themselves.
When you actually sit there and break it down piece by piece, maybe the Cleveland Browns actually do have more talent than the Philadelphia Eagles. It may not show up on the field on Sundays, but talent is talent nevertheless. There is no denying that Bob Wylie’s gut puts every single member of the Eagles’ coaching staff to shame.
And yes, obviously Mychal Kendricks is just addressing the linebackers here in that clip so he’s most likely just saying that the Browns have more talent at that position than the Eagles. Which, I mean, you could make the argument for. If anything it’s really a toss up between the two. If you want to say that Kirksey, Schobert and Collins are better than Bradham and Hicks well then I’m not going to come out fists swinging about it. I wouldn’t necessarily go around saying that group has “SO MUCH more talent” than the Eagles’ group either, but if you’re Mychal Kendricks and you’re trying to pipe up your teammates while also getting yourself a little screen time on HBO, I get where he was coming from. You’re not exactly going to win over the locker room if you go in there saying “Well, guys, I’ll be honest. We were super stacked with talent in Philadelphia which resulted in us winning the Super Bowl. But here in Cleveland? Well… we suck. So let’s just go and try to have some fun out there this season. Browns on 3. 1.. 2…”.
Either way, I think the person in that room who Mychal Kendricks is trying to convince the most is himself. Considering he didn’t seem to be a very big fan of this take just a few months ago.
