At Least 2 Teams Have Reportedly Called The Jets About Trading For Teddy Bridgewater

Well well well, it looks like Teddy Bridgewater does have some trade value after all. The story doesn’t specify which teams have called Mike Maccagnan about trying to make a deal, nor does it include any hints as to what may have been offered, but either way this all makes a lot of sense.

Bridgewater has been nothing but impressive so far, and I think it would be wise for the Jets to demonstrate patience and not jump on the first few offers they get. Let Bridgewater use the next 2 preseason games to keep driving up his trade value while these other GMs competing for Bridgewater’s services squirm a little bit and leverage them against each other. A Teddy Bridgewater deal is inevitable, but there’s no need to rush this.

Just off the top of my head, I can think of a few teams who could use an upgrade in the quarterback room at their facilities. The Jagauars are about to trot out an elite defense, paired with a Blake Bortles led offense, so a deal with Jacksonville would make a lot of sense. Beyond that, it’s only a matter of time before a starting QB is hit with a major injury, leaving their team clamoring for someone to step in and salvage an otherwise wasted season. It happens every year. Whether the Jets decide to take advantage of the quickly developing market or wait it out and try to prey on another team’s desperation due to lack of talent or injury, it’s only a matter of time until Bridgewater is gone.
