One Of The Greatest Superkicks Of All Time Was Landed Last Night

Once again last night, Paul’s kids down in NXT delivered an absolutely fucking phenomenal TakeOver special on the WWE Network, sure to outshine the following day’s main roster pay-per-view. The highlight of said show, for me, is captured in the gifs and videos above.

That’s right. Adam Cole landed a perfectly flush superkick to Ricochet’s throat, MID-MOONSAULT, and broke the internet. The Barclays Center erupted, I lost my mind…and ol’ Slim Daddy Trent, who was sitting next to me on our couch, became a wrestling fan, I think.

Watching him react to matches all night was an absolute blast, though, because it really encapsulated just how great NXT is. I had the show on in our living room, not expecting him to watch a minute of it, and I don’t think he missed a minute of it from the second Undisputed Era vs Mustache Mountain started until TakeOver faded to black. Alllllll hail, Trips.

As for tonight’s PPV, SummerSlam…”The Hottest Party of the Summer”…well I won’t be watching that live for the first time since 2002, and I won’t be there in attendance for the first time since 2015. I’m just so fucking worn out by the current WWE product, and I can’t justify spending a dime on a show headlined by Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns no matter how great the rest of the card looks. I’ll catch Daniel Bryan vs The Miz, Ronda Rousey vs Alexa Bliss, Dolph Ziggler vs Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens vs Braun Strowman later on.

Also, shoutout to McAfee for once again CRUSHING it on the pre-show. He’s the most natural talker they’ve ever had on the panel and I’d be saying that whether he were my friend or not. He’s got good fashion inspiration, too…
