LeBron James, Former Cavs GM, Offers Advice to Browns GM
John Dorsey, the General Manager of the Cleveland Browns, has had a lot on his plate this preseason. First of all, his All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon, who’s only flaw is he’s been suspended for 56 games in his 6 year NFL career, did not report to training camp for “personal reasons”. Next, his rookie wide receiver Antonio Callaway, who’s Achilles heel is stealing credit cards, committing alleged sexual assaults, and failing drug tests, was pulled over at 2:59 in the morning and cited for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license. Not to mention that Dorsey didn’t know about this incident and went ahead and traded away our former 1st round wide receiver the very next morning. Needless to say, the Browns have to bring in a pass catcher and rumors are swirling that Dez Bryant is close to being that guy. Whether the deal has stalled from the Browns end or from Bryant’s camp has yet to be determined, but the people of Cleveland all have their two cents about what Mr. Dorsey should do. Luckily for him, he needs to look no further than former Cleveland Cavaliers GM LeBron James for advice.
Now LeBron does not have the greatest track record for being a General Manager. He signed his good friend Tristan Thompson to an 80 million dollar deal, which benefitted everyone involved except for the actual team. He also brought in a pretty good group of guys that would dominate the 40 and over YMCA league, but unfortunately the NBA has had a little better talent than that these past couple years. Anyways, no one can debate that LeBron has struggled as an NBA GM, but this is a completely different ballgame and I for one think we should listen to the man. He knows he wants the talent, but is the risk worth the reward? LeBron, thoughts?
There you have it. Team First LeBron James thinks that it all will come down to putting the organization before egos. There is no finer man in the city to speak on that issue. I will say that “Team over me all day” would sound a hell of a lot better than “Team over I all day” though. That’s why you go to college, kids.
