Good Vibes Monday: Something Positive From The NYC Subway
Not a lot of good comes out of the public transportation in NYC. Still-warm human urine? Sat in that. Guy openly wackin’ it over his jeans while attempting to make eye contact? Stood next to that. Ads at the station for ‘Amature Adult Hood Bang’ participants? Replied to that. (3K is 3K.)
There’s also the rats, the stagnant, wet heat in the summer, the delays, the crowds, the 7am surprise Mariachi bands… so it was nice to see a tweet from 58 year-old Mike Yung today. After singing in the depths of NYC for almost 40 years (he’s been stabbed 9 times), he finally caught a break. Yesterday he tweeted to celebrate the anniversary of the life-changing video from 3 years ago.
That video led him to America’s Got Talent where he made it to the semi-finals. Yung told Simon Cowell that the low points were Mondays & Tuesdays when no money would come in. Despite that, he also told judges,
“When I’m in the subway, I treat every day like I’m Madison Square Garden.”
Now he’s got an album titled “Never Give Up” & he’ll be touring to almost 20 cities across the U.S. I know Monday’s are tough, so do yourself a favor – whether you’re going stir crazy in your cubicle, sweatin’ it out at a construction site, or getting coffee for your asshole bosses, treat today like you’re at Madison Square Garden.
