Wake Up With Ken Griffey Jr Mondays - The Kid Brings Back A Home Run In Old Tigers Stadium

Ken Griffey Jr Mondays, the best way to start off the week. This week’s installment featured Ken going wayyyyyy up and over the wall in old Tigers Stadium.

This ball is laced to right center and looks like it’ll be gone, or at least a double. Ken covers an insane amount of ground here. Legit sprinted 100+ feet to get to the wall. I mean look how shallow he was playing, and the fact that he was able to get back there and still have time to size up the jump, just crazy. . Griffey leaps and goes wayyyyy up over the wall and brings back the homer. He got at least 10 feet up there for the grab, literally had his feet above the “DTE Energy” sign. I’ve said it every Monday for 38 weeks, Griffey was an insane athlete. This is the type of catch where he would fractured 4 ribs if he was in Cincy, but young Griffey was a defensive monster. No lie, I think this is the best catch of his career.

Fun fact, the hitter here was Luis Gonzalez. People, including me, forget he was on the Tigers before he blooped in the game winning run to beat the Yankees in the World Series.
