The Best Movies From Each State: Alabama

Movie States in line

The results from the first installment of my totally normal and not insane 51 week study of the top three movies from each state are IN. Remember everyone got three votes, so the percentages reflect how many times they appeared on every individual vote. For the grate state of Alabama, here is what y’all chose for the top three:

3. My Cousin Vinny (30%)

An absolute classic courtroom movie, I’m not surprised at all that it medaled. It’s one of the better, if not best, Joe Pesci roles ever, and was the big sophomore role for Ralph Macchio following ‘The Karate Kid’. God do I love Marissa Tomei, that tire marks scene was great.

2. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby (35%)

A must see from the mid-2000’s Will Ferrell comedy blitz, this is one of those movies that got referenced non-stop after it came out. For me personally, being in middle school at the time, “If you’re not first, you’re last” and “Shake-And-Bake” was basically every other sentence out of our mouths. This was also the start of the short lived Ferrell-John C. Reily duo, which carried into the iconic ‘Step Brothers’ 2 years after this.

1. Forrest Gump (77%)

This is one of the best movies of all time, and was a virtual lock to win this state. It’s honestly hilarious in retrospect imagining Forrest Gump being in college when there was essentially 0 oversight on athletes. Even more hilarious is imagining Forrest Gump (Hanks was 38 when he filmed this) lining up in today’s backfield when Alabama has players like Bo Scarborough.

Good gravy. Or even picturing him going against today’s defenses would be amazing.

RIP in Peace, Gump.

Thats a very solid list, but we are now on to WEEK 2 featuring ALASKA. There’s more movies than I expected to be here, and I expect a VERY contentious vote. If you can’s use the embedded form, click here.
