It's Good To See Houston Rocket Fans Aren't Salty About Their Loss To The Warriors....Oh Wait
You would think now that it’s been a few weeks since the Rockets blew Game 7 at home with a chance to return to the NBA Finals by missing 10,000 threes that the fans would have accepted that reality and moved on. At the end of the day they still had a great season, saw Harden put in a MVP campaign, and could rationalize that if they had a healthy Chris Paul they probably do in fact make the Finals. But this is the NBA we’re talking about here, where rational thought and fandom often times don’t go together. I bring this up because apparently Ayesha Curry is opening up a Houston location of her restaurant International Smoke. Now you would think that being in Texas, the fine people of Houston would be pumped for another BBQ option. While I’ve never tried this place out of its SF location, I did go to their website and I can say that this does in fact look pretty appetizing.
However, it appears that Houston natives are not exactly what I would call excited about the opening of this new location. In fact, as you may have expected, they took to the internet to kill this place before it even opens in early July. Normally I am of the belief that the only people that comment on Yelp reviews are pyshcopaths and actual employees giving fake reviews, but this was some quality entertainment.
I mean the level of salt in these reviews is fantastic
My personal favorites are the ones that talk about the food of a place that isn’t even open yet
Now that’s some Grade A saltiness right there folks. Personally I love the cocky move by Curry. That’s a level of pettiness I think we can all get behind. Rip a cities heart out in a grueling seven game series and then a few months later open a restaurant right in their goddamn faces just to rub it in even more? Love that. Now granted, there’s absolutely no chance this location succeeds, but do you think the Curry’s give a shit? Of course not, the press alone from this whole Yelp fiasco is probably worth it. I can honestly say I had no interest nor did I even know Ayesha Curry actually had a restaurant but you know what if I’m ever in Houston you bet your ass I’m going to try this place now. What do I care about the Western Conference Finals, if the BBQ is good then the BBQ is good.
I also wonder what Rockets fans now think about all those Blaze Pizza locations in Houston now that Lebron has essentially told them he hates their city and would never play there. We already know the pizza stinks
and it’s only a matter of time before the angry Yelp mob turns their focus there only this time they’ll be telling the truth.
But congratulations Rockets fans, you have now made it even more clear that not only is Steph and the Warriors living in the mind of your GM, they also are buying up all the real estate in your brains just to open mediocre BBQ restaurants right in your fucking face. Everything coming up Warriors yet again
